Fixes for common issues

There are two ways to launch the homebrew menu:

  1. By holding R and launching a game on your main menu. Recommended
  2. By clicking on the album icon.
    • This will launch the homebrew menu in Applet mode, which means some homebrew apps might not work.

To start, place your microSD card inside of your Switch, take off the right joycon and put the RCM JIG on the right rail and slide it all the way down.

If the Switch is on, turn it off and then power it back on while holding the Vol + button, this should result in just a black screen.

If you have a black screen, it means you’re in RCM mode and your Switch is ready to inject.

If you are getting this error code after updating firmware, remove your gamecard. You can enable nogc to avoid this crash inside of hekate_ipl.ini. Enabling nogc will prevent you from playing gamecards until you update your Switch to a newer firmware.

Battery is depleted and Switch won’t power on

Section titled “Battery is depleted and Switch won’t power on”

This will most likely be because you have AutoRCM enabled. To fix this, connect your Switch to a charger and let it charge, afterwards you can launch a payload again.

If your Switch does not boot after updating your firmware, it may be because one of the following things, try all of them 1 by 1 until it fixes it:

You may be running an old version of Atmosphere which does not support the new firmware you’re on.

To fix this, install the newest available version of Atmosphere and update your Sigpatches. You can also update Hekate while you’re at it.

To update, install the latest versions of Atmosphere, Hekate and Sigpatches and drop all of the contents of each folder to the root of your microSD card and when it asks to overwrite, click yes for all.

  • You can access your microSD card by taking it out and using a ( micro ) SD card reader or read Browse microSD card.

If this still did not fix the problem at hand, continue to the next tab.

If you’re on MacOS and have inserted your microSD card into your device, you might experience issues such as the homebrew menu not detecting your homebrew applications among other issues.

To fix this, boot into Hekate, press Tools -> Arch bit - RCM Touch - Pkg 1/2 -> Fix Archive Bit.

To fix this, access your microSD card and access hekate_ipl.ini inside of /bootloader/.

  • Directoryatmosphere/
  • Directorybootloader/
    • hekate_ipl.ini Access this file.
  • Directoryswitch/
  • hekate_ctcaer_x.x.x.bin
  • hbmenu.nro

And add this inside of it:

  • You can use the button in the top right of the box in order to copy.
